In order to understand the effect of geocell in treating the widening joint of highway, so that the widened part of the embankment and the existing road are more closely connected to form a whole, and the uneven settlement of the new and old embankment is reduced, finite element analysis is applied to analyze the lateral displacement, vertical settlement and maximum differential settlement of each key point on the top surface of the subgrade when the geocell is laid at different levels at the junction of the new and old roadbed. The results show that the laying of geocell can reduce the lateral displacement and differential settlement of the subgrade, and the effect is best when laid on the foundation and the top, which can improve the overall stiffness and bearing capacity of the subgrade.
