In order to study the mechanical behavior of the reinforced concrete side retainer in the beam bridge,T·beam,three fabricated types of highway bridge,which are hollow—slab andbox—girder bridge,are taken as the object.Using combin40 elementofANSYSsoftwarewasemployed to simulate side retainer to analyze the dynamic behavior of the side retainer in the different peak acceleration of ground motion,and the maximum impact capacity of side retainerwasfixed by its ultimate capacity failure analysis.The results indi— cate that the concrete reinforced side retainer is only effective during its normalservice period.butwill break downwhen it is subject to 0.05 g peak acceleration of ground motion.
