热力学性质在数学上可用齐次函数表示，因此它一定满足车次函数的性质，本文应用齐次函数的性质，推演表示热力学的一些重要性质及其关系，如强度性质与容量性质之间的一些关系；熵为什么是容量性质；偏摩尔量是强度性质以及吉布斯──杜亥姆（Ｇｉｂｂｓ一Ｄｕｈｅｍ）公式的推导等等。
